Lack of independent transfer devices for people with mobility impairments

Transferring from one surface to another is an important functional for persons who have affected upper limbs, in cases of hemiplegia, high level paraplegia, hand deformities, etc.

The currently available solution is a transfer board, but it still is a difficult device for many people to use. It provides very little stability and increased risk of falls. Hence, a lot of people are heavily dependent on others to help them transfer

A better solution is needed to enable persons with varied disbaility profiles to be able to safely and effectively transfer independently
